Government to modernize national procurement system with IDB loan
Bnamericas Published: Tuesday, February 15, 2011
The government of Barbados has received a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to modernize its national procurement system, BNamericas has learned. Part of the loan will go toward hiring a consultancy to help in the government's efforts in acquiring an electronic procurement system that can support the business needs of the central purchasing department and various government ministries and divisions. The consultancy contract will entail conducting a survey, assessing the electronic procurement systems currently available and then recommending a system based on the business requirements. Through the special projects unit within the finance and economic affairs ministry, the government has issued an expression of interest request for consultants to submit proposals. The government is looking for proposals from eligible individual consultants from IDB member countries who have experience in IT. According to the government, the decision will be made in accordance with IDB policies for selecting and contracting consultants. The proposal deadline is March 2.
