Govt. could allow more competition

Bnamericas
The latest draft of the new electric model being prepared by Brazil's government could allow more competitive trading of electricity alongside a regulated pool, giving distributors more leeway to manage market risk, Valor Economico newspaper reported. The newspaper, citing access to the latest unpublished draft of the model, said the two systems would exist alongside each other, with generators and distributors opting in or out of the pool if they have commercial agreements between them. Mines and energy minister Dilma Rousseff did not confirm the information, the report said.
