Govt. could replace Eletrobras head, other executives

Brazil's government could replace Luiz Pinguelli Rosa as president of federal power company Eletrobras and reshuffle executives at other government dependencies, local press reported Tuesday, citing unnamed sources. There is also press speculation that the government would name a new executive to run national development bank BNDES and replace Ildo Sauer as gas and energy director at federal energy company Petrobras. The shake-up would aim to accommodate the Democratic Movement Party (PMDB) in the ruling coalition led by the left-of-center Workers' Party (PT). PMDB leaders would be given the chance to name the new executives. The reports are unconfirmed and a Petrobras spokesperson told BNamericas there would be no changes at the company's top management.
