Govt. creates commission to study use of satellites

Bnamericas
Venezuela's cabinet has approved the creation of a presidential commission in charge of designing tools to guarantee state security and improve telecommunications through the use of satellites, according to information published on the government's website. "We plan to create a presidential commission to guarantee the government's capability to participate in any decision regarding this matter," communications secretary William Castillo was quoted as saying. The announcement comes after the Venezuelan government sent to the Chinese government a document including all technical requirements to purchase a telecommunications satellite which it wants to launch into orbit within a year.
