
Govt opens US$8mn potable water plant

Guyana's government has opened a G$1.6bn (US$7.79mn) potable water plant in the town of Corriverton in eastern Berbice-Corentyne region, government information service Gina reported. The plant, built by a consortium comprised of Japan's Tokyo Engineering and local firm Toruca Cooperation, will serve 12,000 people, the report said. The project was funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA). The facility is among several being built throughout the country with support from the Japanese government, according to the report.
