Govt. shouldered US$29mn in Soat costs last year

Peru's government shouldered US$29mn in costs related to obligatory transport insurance or Soat policies last year, news agency Andina quoted transport and communications minister José Ortiz as saying. Ortiz expressed the government's concerns regarding what it considers excessive insurance costs related to the coverage of transport accidents. Measures are being taken to educate the population on the importance of road safety, he added.
