GTD's new Peru datacenter to start operations in August

The new US$50mn datacenter of Chilean telco GTD in Peru will begin operations in August.

The information was disclosed via social media by the CEO of the Peruvian operation, Sergio Mavila. Construction began last year and it will become the company's second datacenter in the Andean nation.

Located in Lurín, in Lima province, the 6,000m2 site will have tier III certification, 960 racks and 20MW capacity. It will be one of the largest and most modern datacenters in Peru, according to Mavila.

The existing 1,161m2 datacenter in Surco, Lima province, also has tier III certification.

The new facility is part of GTD's datacenter expansion, which includes plans for one in Barranquilla, Colombia, where it operates a site in Medellín.

GTD has 10 datacenters in Chile, Colombia and Peru, with eight of them in the home market.
