Guatemala updates 3 hospital tenders

Guatemala’s public health and social security ministry (Mspas) is set to award three turnkey contracts this year to build two hospitals in Jutiapa and Mazatenango municipalities and rehabilitate another in Chiquimula.

The tender calendars for the new facilities – which involve designing, construction and equipping – was modified. Bids will now be received on July 20, while several companies and consortiums have shown interest in rehabilitating the Chiquimula hospital, according to records on procurement site Guatecompras.

The bidders for the Jutiapa and Mazatenango facilities will be presented after the offers are published. A date for announcing the winner has yet to be provided.

Meanwhile, the firms that have shown interest in the Chiquimula hospital are UG21 Consultores de Ingeniería in consortium with Servinc Servicios de ingeniería, Vielca Ingenieros, Taller de Arquitectura Sánchez Horneros (TASH), Cal y Mayor Asociados, a consortium comprising Hytsa and Cemosa, Inesca and Seringe

The tenders are part of the US$193mn program launched by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) to add 1,040 hospital beds to Guatemala’s public health system.

The program also involves other two projects in the cities of Sololá and San Pedro Carchá, for which tenders have not yet been launched.
