The head of the MIC, Javier Giménez, received representatives from Blue Tower Ventures Paraguay, who indicated that they are analyzing the viability of entering the solar energy generation market, with a particular focus on the Chaco area.

Julio Hernández, general manager of the group, highlighted the great opportunity that the Western Region of the country represents, where he stated that the lack of transmission lines has become a significant obstacle to access to energy, while underlining the urgency of provide energy solutions to a developing region that cannot wait any longer.

Although they are still in the early stages of discussion, Hernández indicated that they are evaluating the specific needs of the Chaco and plan to carry out detailed technical studies before determining specific areas for the implementation of solar projects.

“We are in the first conversations, I think this has to advance a little more and then start looking at specific areas, doing studies. This is something that takes some time of analysis and technical studies,” said Hernández.

Likewise, he pointed out that this meeting with the head of the MIC is a first step in the exploration process and stated that there is still much to do before any project comes to fruition.

Diversification of the energy matrix

Regarding the current state of solar energy in Paraguay, Hernández pointed out that there is currently no significant presence in the country, despite its potential. He recognized the importance of large energy generators like Itaipu, but highlighted the limitation of transmission lines, especially in the north of the country, where energy demand is high.

When asked about the approximate amount of investment that Blue Tower Ventures Paraguay would be willing to make in the country, Hernández explained that it will depend on the size of the solar plant, estimating an initial investment of USD 40 million.
