Guyana FPSOs due offline in H2 for gas-to-energy project

Development of Guyana’s natural gas-to-energy project is expected to hit a milestone this year with the connection of the fuel from the Stabroek offshore block.

During operator ExxonMobil’s 2023 fourth quarter earnings presentation, senior VP and CFO Kathryn Mikells said Liza 1 (Destiny FPSO) and Liza 2 (Unity FPSO) are scheduled to be offline in the second half of this year.

The downtime will allow linkage to the project’s pipeline, Mikells added.

The project will transport a maximum of 60Mf3/d of gas from the offshore acreage to a 300MW power plant and a natural gas liquids facility.

The offshore duct will be 218km long and the onshore portion 25km.

Last month, the natural resources ministry issued a call for proposals to support current and future upstream gas developments, including pipelines.
