Guyana-Suriname basin energy watch

The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) awarded an EPC contract for the 1.5MW Kumu and 0.7MW Moco Moco hydro projects.

The winner was Vidullanka with an offer of US$12.9mn, according to information from the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board.

BNamericas previously reported that three groups had submitted proposals in the tender which was launched in March.

For its part, Guyana Power & Light (GPL) extended to December 15 the deadline to submit bids in the call to build a 25MW heavy fuel oil-fired power generation plant.

On the upstream hydrocarbons front, Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas said in an update that it together with JV partners on the Orinduik offshore block is drawing up plans to drill at least one well as part of the next exploration phase which begins in 2023.

SURINAME

In neighboring Suriname, IDB approved previously announced technical cooperation funds to increase access to affordable, reliable, clean and sustainable electricity, potable water, and communication services in the hinterland.

The regional development bank also greenlighted technical cooperation funds to support the Ministry of Natural Resources and state power utility EBS in the timely execution of procurement, supervision, and closing of energy sector project contracts.
