ExxonMobil and Noble signed an agreement to continue drilling services in the Guyana-Suriname basin related to the Noble Bob Douglas (pictured), Noble Tom Madden and Noble Don Taylor drillships.

In a statement, Noble also reported that ExxonMobil extended the term of the rigs’ contracts by 3.5 years.

Noble’s latest fleet status update shows that the Noble Sam Croft is under contract with Apache in Suriname that is estimated to expire in June.

Guyana’s energy department director Mark Bynoe announced that international law firm Hunton Andrews Kurt was hired to review the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act and will work with local law firm Cameron and Shepherd, the country’s Department of Public Information reported.

Bynoe also said that the local content policy for the petroleum sector was published and that Guyana’s first lift of crude for around 1Mb which was sold to Shell is scheduled for next week.

And the South American nation’s foreign ministry said it will submit oral pleadings to The International Court of Justice when the tribunal meets the week of March 23 to hear a controversy arising from Venezuela’s contention that an 1899 arbitral award establishing the boundary with Guyana is null and void.

A little over a year ago, Venezuela’s navy intercepted vessels carrying out seismic work in what Guyana says was its exclusive economic zone.
