Guyana to seek operator for gas-to-energy project’s power plant
Guyana’s government will launch bidding to operate the 300MW power plant of the country’s natural gas-to-energy project, according to vice president Bharrat Jagdeo.
Jagdeo made the announcement during a press conference in response to allegations from the opposition that a 20-year contract had been awarded to a company close to the ruling People’s Progressive Party.
He said the operator will be an international firm as Guyana Power and Light does not have the current capability to manage such a plant. Operations are penciled in to begin at year-end.
The date of when the call would be issued was not disclosed.
Lindsayca CH4 Guyana holds contracts to build the power plant and the gas-to-energy’s natural gas liquids facility.
Also from Guyana, New Hayven Merchant Bank reported it structured US$25mn in financing for Vreed-en-Hoop Shorebase, which is developing a US$300mn port to support upstream operations, among other activities
