GWI launches anti-wastage water campaign

Bnamericas
Guyana's state waterworks company Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has launched an anti-wastage campaign for the country's drinking water, the government announced. Officers from parent company, Severn Trent, will also help, the statement added. The plan will include how to identify problems, give advice to customers on their internal and external plumbing arrangements, and teach customers how to fix problems and highlight the problems encountered with wastage. The plan will also establish district-metered areas, where meters will be installed in bulk. The meters will be installed on transmission lines, allowing GWI to determine the amount of water that is pumped into the system and the amount that is used in a particular area. The program has been launched in the North Ruimveldt area, and if successful, will expand.
