Hidalgo & Hidalgo secures US$8mn contract

Quito municipal officials have penned a US$7.8mn contract with Ecuadorian construction firm Hidalgo & Hidalgo to upgrade 29.3km of Simon Bolivar avenue and extend it by a further 6.1km, the mayor's office announced. The two routes constitute part of Quito's eastern peripheral corridor; works are scheduled to last one year, and will start in the next 45 days, a company official told BNamericas. Quito, Ecuador's capital, has some 1.5 million inhabitants.
