Honduras kicks off bidding to design 5 hospitals
The Honduran government has launched a bidding process to hire firms for the design of five new hospitals.
Health ministry unit GESALUD published two private tenders on procurement website Honducompras: BID-4713-GESALUD-SP-02-2023, and BID-4713-GESALUD-SP-03-2023.
The first tender refers to the design of hospitals in capital Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. Six foreign firms were invited to submit bids:
Planho Consultores – Spain
Barcelona Global Design Corp (BGD) – Panama
Consorcio Técnica y Proyectos (TYPSA)/Antares Consulting/Casa Solo Arquitectos – Spain
Taller de Arquitectura Sánchez Horneros (TASH) – Spain
Consorcio Quaglia y Asociados/Arksur Planning – Argentina/Spain.
IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture – Spain.
Bids will be received on August 31 at the GESALUD office.
Tender BID-4713-GESALUD-SP-03-2023 refers to the design of hospitals in the departments of Olancho, Ocotepeque and Santa Bárbara.
The invited firms are:
Barcelona Global Design Corporation – Panama
TASH – Spain
IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture – Spain
TYPSA/Antares Consulting/Casasolo Arquitectos – Spain
Consorcio Dutch Hospital Design/Bifrost – The Netherlands/Bolivia
Ghesa Ingeniería y Tecnología – Spain
GESALUD will receive the proposals on September 4.
According health minister José Manuel Matheu a bidding process for the design of three more hospitals will be launched shortly.
“Eight new hospitals will be built and equipped across the country, it is important to highlight that no other nation has done this in three years and that is why we have the support of two regional financial entities and at least four countries led by Spain, who are helping to build this dream,” local daily El Heraldo reported Matheu as saying.
There are also tenders pending for five neonatal care units, he added.
The IDB are among the regional lenders that are providing funds.
“With funding [from Spain] the Salama, Ocotepeque, and Santa Bárbara hospitals will be built. Then, with the help of other IDB members the Tegucigalpa traumatology hospital, the San Pedro Sula hospital, and the Roatán hospital will be built,” said Matheu.
The Korean government, through the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei), will provide funding for the construction of the Choluteca and Tocoa hospitals, he said.
