Honduras launches consultation on 6GHz band
Honduran telecommunications regulator Conatel has launched a public consultation on a draft resolution to modify the national frequency plan (PNAF) in relation to the 6GHz band.
The regulator's proposal is to change the allocation of the entire 6GHz band to only the 5,925MHz-6,425MHz range for local area radioelectric wireless access systems.
The document, available on the regulator's website, will be available for public consultation until July 12.

Peru has published the law for the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The regulation promotes a risk-based approach to the use and development of AI, plurality of participants for policy development, internet governance and ethical development for responsible AI.
The presidency of the council of ministers, through the secretariat of government and digital transformation, will be responsible for directing, evaluating and supervising the use and promotion of AI and other emerging technologies.

Ecuador has published the regulation of the digital and audiovisual transformation law, the legal framework that establishes rules to encourage the advance of technology in the country.
President Guillermo Lasso said that with this regulation "innovation and development will be strengthened and there will be benefits such as exemption from taxes for those who have the audiovisual investment certificate."
The telecommunications ministry (Mintel) also began dialogue on the formulation of public policy for digital transformation. The working groups seek to tackle the issues of digital infrastructure, culture and inclusion, emerging technologies, digital economy, digital government, security and data processing.

Colombia's trade and industry regulator (SIC) imposed a fine of 1.31bn Colombian pesos (US$315,000) against Claro for the collection of data during an advertising campaign.
The regulator indicated that Claro "failed to implement adequate and sufficient measures to obtain telephone numbers from its clients of referrals through the commercial campaign "Amigos que te premian" without prior, express and informed authorization, to offer them telecommunications services."
The SIC also ordered the elimination of the database compiled via this campaign and a halt to the collection of personal data without the authorization of the owner.

Peru's transport and communications ministry MTC started a public consultation on a supreme decree on the removal of disused or badly maintained aerial wiring in urban areas of the country.
The document will be available for public consultation for 10 business days after publication in the official gazette on July 7. More information can be seen here, in Spanish.

Peruvian regulator Osiptel approved a standard that establishes the supervisory procedures for the quality indicators of public telecommunications services in relation to the rate of Call Setup Failure Rate (CSFR) and Call Drop Rate (CDR), among others.

Development bank CAF and Chilean regulator Subtel have signed a technical cooperation agreement to carry out pre-investment studies on internet connection infrastructure in homes.
The studies will include the characterization of the gaps in use and the definition and prefeasibility of the projects for US$1.25mn. It is estimated that the value of the project itself will cost US$85mn.
