Honduras readies PPP highway project

Honduras' public-private partnership (PPP) promotion agency Coalianza is readying a tender for a highway that would connect the northern section of El Progreso municipality to Baracoa, in Cortés department.

The contract for the Palmero corridor would entail the design, financing, construction, and operation of the 45km two-lane highway, Coalianza said.

Moreover, the winner would also build the relevant interchanges, as well as 21 bridges along the way.

The highway would connect the localities of Trujillo, Tocoa, Valle del Aguán, La Ceiba, Tela, El Progreso, and the northern area of Olancho department with Cortés port. It would also facilitate the transport of African palm products made in El Progreso and San Pedro Sula.

Authorities did not provide a date for the tender launch.
