Honduras readying call for US$130mn power dispatch project

Honduras power regulator CREE has approved bidding rules for a transmission project to shore up dispatch on the Atlantic coast.

The planned infrastructure is the 230kV Negrito-Yoro II-Arenales-Coyoles Central II-Reguleto line in Yoro department.

State power company Enee submitted procurement information to the watchdog in January and is now authorized to launch an international tender for the project, CREE information shows.

According to preliminary information, the line will cost an estimated US$130mn and stretch 176km. Works include new substations and the overhaul of associated infrastructure.

The project is part of national dispatch center CND’s 2024-33 transmission grid expansion plan (PERT), available here and in the Documents box in the top right corner.

Maximum demand this year is forecast to hit 1,936MW and 2,413MW in 2030, compared with last year’s high of 1,820MW.
