Honduras roundup: Energy storage call, mobile dispatch, grid boost

Honduras’ state power company Enee launched an international public tender to develop a battery energy storage system (BESS).

The contract entails the study, design, testing and startup of a 75MW, 300MWh BESS at the Amarateca substation.

Offers are due by October 23, according to the procurement notice, available in the Documents box in the top-right corner of the screen.

Mobile dispatch

Enee received two offers in the international public tender for the rental, startup and maintenance of four 138/13.8kV, 50MVA mobile substations at the Bermejo, La Puerta, Choloma and Santa Fe substations.

The bidders were Comercial Laeisz Honduras and Energía PD.

Depending on demand, the state operator may request the units be moved to other substations.

The government is relying on mobile equipment to shore up the grid until new power generation capacity comes online in the coming years.

Grid boost

And Enee put into operation 20MW of capacity at the San Pedro substation in Copán department, as part of efforts to address the country’s energy crisis.
