Honduras steps up energy ‘sovereignty’ push
Honduras’ state power company Enee launched a campaign dubbed "Yo Defiendo Mi Patrimonio” (I Defend My Heritage) as part of measures announced on June 22 to combat energy theft.
“The main objective of this initiative is to raise awareness among the population about the use and sustainable defense of the country's energy and environmental resources,” according to Enee.
The campaign will span all departments, starting with the capital and prioritize Cortés, Olancho, Santa Bárbara, Comayagua, Colón and Atlántida, which have the highest levels of energy theft, the company said.
For its part, power regulator CREE opened consultation for proposed modifications to the distribution service regulation.
The watchdog highlighted that it “has identified that the economic and social reality of the country prevents certain regulatory provisions from being fully complied with by users or the distribution companies.”
In May, CREE launched an online platform to follow-up complaints filed by users against distributors that have not been responded to.
The regulator is also accepting comments for a proposed transitory technical standard for complementary services related to voltage control and reactive power, as well as load disconnection.
The CREE documents are available here.
