Honduras tenders Tegucigalpa highway works to relieve congestion

Honduras is pushing forward with a road project aimed at decongesting the central district municipality, which includes capital Tegucigalpa.

The works involve building a highway between Tegucigalpa and Valle de Ángeles via Santa Lucía using hydraulic concrete and including an interchange to access the capital’s beltway, according to the tender criteria.

The contract is now being tendered through procurement website Honducompras by the infrastructure and transport ministry (SIT) and the process LPN- SIT-099-2023 includes studies, design and construction of the highway. The funds will be provided by the State.

Interested parties can submit queries to the ministry at the email address redvialcontrataciones@sit.gob.hn until August 11 and proposals will be received on August 21.

This is part of a three-project package aimed at decongesting roads in the central district. The other projects include building an overpass on Juan Pablo II boulevard, to connect Centroamérica boulevard with the roads that lead to the north of the capital, and a road from Mateo west of the capital to the Los Robles district of Tegucigalpa.

Both projects have been tendered on the Honducompras platform, but no winners have yet been chosen.
