Honduras to audit non-thermal power plant costs

Honduras’ power regulator CREE has launched an international tender to draft and carry out an audit of variable generation costs for non-thermal power plants.

The consultancy work will target plants connected to the national grid and review costs declared with the national dispatch center (CND).

Offers for the four-month contract are due next month, according to procurement information.

Power purchase agreements (PPAs) have come under increasing scrutiny by authorities as part of actions to address sector shortfalls, particularly state power company Enee’s finances.

Enee recently submitted addendums for 18 PPAs to congress for approval to save 30bn lempiras (US$1.2bn).

CREE also issued calls to draft the procedures for tenders to operate isolated systems and help establish methodologies to value assets of distributors that operate such systems.
