Hostweb to provide Oracle services for Ceará’s public institutions

Brazilian cloud solutions provider Hostweb was licensed by Ceará state IT company Etice to provide Oracle cloud services to public agencies and municipal administrations.

“This new strategic partnership will allow the company to expand its reach and offer essential solutions for the state government, Ceará city halls, city councils or other institutions linked to Etice,” Hostweb said in a statement.

The company said it will also be able to provide colocation services on its own sites, enabling hosting of essential IT infrastructure, as well as information security services.

Hostweb has around 100mn reais (US$19.7mn) earmarked for investments in datacenter capacity, commercial manager Marcelo Vargas told BNamericas in July.

Of this total, half refers to capex for two existing Tier 3 data halls in Fortaleza and half to investments in capacity expansion. The company’s first sites started operations five years ago.

Hostweb announced earlier this year a contract with Oracle to offer the US multinational's services to customers in the north and northeast, part of a hybrid cloud portfolio push.

Negotiations with Oracle started in 2022, and the contract was formalized in January, according to Vargas.

Etice now reports 47 companies qualified to provide cloud services to public agencies via AWS, Oracle, IBM, Google, Cirion, Angola Cables, Salesforce, Docusign and Microsoft platforms.
