HP aims to double monthly server sales by YE

Bnamericas
US-based IT equipment manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) expects to double monthly server sales in Brazil from 15 to 30 by year-end, Brazilian financial paper Valor Economico quoted the company's Brazilian servers marketing director Jaison Patrocinio as saying. Patrocinio believes the Brazilian server market in general is "heating up again," and says sales will be boosted by a new family of server products launched by the company this week. Servers account for a greater portion of companies' IT investment than any other technology infrastructure product, he added. Following its merger with Compaq HP at the end of last year unified its Brazilian product line production in Campinas in Sao Paulo state. HP had a 62% market share in the Brazilian servers segment for the first quarter, according to IT market researcher IDC Brasil.
