Hurricane Patricia was top Google Mexico search term in 2015

Hurrican Patricia was the most searched for term in Mexico in 2015, according to Google's statistics, which it has just released.

Other search terms in the top five were the movie "50 shades of Grey," singer Joan Sebastián and actress Lorena Rojas.

Druglord Joaquín "el Chapo" Guzmán came in fifth on the list of most searched-for names, but also figured prominently on the list of most popular questions.

In the technology sector, the iPhone 6 was the most popular search, followed by the release of Windows 10. Controversial shared-ride app Uber was also included, as was new triple play operator izzi.

Mary Carmen Albarrán, who co-authored the report, said that Mexican users are becoming proficient in the use of Google.

"Netizens are more specific in their questions, and the search engine provides more specific answers," she told El Financiero.
