Hydropower leads bids in Panama power supply call
Panama’s state power transmission company Etesa received 42 offers from 29 companies in its latest electricity supply call.
The bulk of proposals to cover requirements for power distributors Ensa, Edemet and Edechi came from hydroelectric generators followed by operators of bunker and diesel-fueled plants.
Solar and wind bids were also submitted as well as an offer from natural gas power producer Generadora Gatún.
Contracts will run from March 1, 2025, to February 28, 2030.
A preliminary results evaluation will be sent on December 13 and a final report by December 24, with contract signing scheduled for February 10.
