iUno releases university ERP solution

Chilean software maker iUno has launched an enterprise resource planning (ERP) product for universities, on a US$105,000 investment, solutions manager Leonardo Munoz told BNamericas. The company is already implementing the product, called iPortal SGE, with the business and law schools at Chile's Catholic University, Munoz said, adding it expects to obtain a return on investment by next year. The company will be marketing iPortal to other local universities, and wants to sign up as many customers as possible in the next few months, to give time for implementation before Chile's next academic year begins in March 2004, he said. The solution allows administrators, professors, students and alumni to manage all their university accounts through a single portal, according to an iUno statement. iUno is a subsidiary of Chilean technology group Quintec. Starting next year, the company will begin to explore options for exporting iPortal, along with other products, Munoz said, adding exports will favor Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, and will be done through local partners with on-the-ground knowledge. Meanwhile, iUno continues to progress toward obtaining capability maturity model (CMM) level 2 certification, which it expects to earn in April or May next year, Munoz said. The company is on track to grow billing by around 30% this year, and to surpass US$1mn in annual revenues, he said, confirming earlier projections.
