ICE and Coopeguanacaste sign agreement to develop joint energy works
This ICE release was published using machine translation.
The Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) and the Guanacaste Rural Electrification Cooperative (Coopeguanacaste) signed an agreement to develop generation, electrification, transmission and distribution projects that facilitate the development of the communities where both companies meet.
The confluence zones are those in which the limits of the electrical service concession areas of each distributor coincide, as is the case in Liberia and Santa Cruz. The agreement will facilitate the development of works in locations with this condition, which will allow timely solutions to be provided to clients.
The agreement promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the technical, technological, scientific and commercial fields. The companies supply the 11 cantons of the province of Guanacaste.
“In the last year we formalized agreements with the private sector that allow us to develop electricity and telecommunications projects. We want to work with cooperatives and distribution companies to boost the economy directly in the communities,” said Marco Acuña, president of Grupo ICE.
For his part, Miguel Gómez Corea, general manager of Coopeguanacaste, indicated that “this type of agreement is necessary for the growth and development of the communities of Costa Rica. We also want to contribute to sustainable projects that contribute to the fight against climate change, an issue that concerns the entire electricity sector.”
The agreement between the Institute and Coopeguanacaste will be valid for five years, with the possibility of extension for two periods of equal duration.
