Given the circulation of the press release from the Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep), related to the impact on electricity rates in 2025, derived from the Variable Cost of Generation (CVG), the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) states that :

• In the tariff estimates for 2024 and 2025, the effects of electricity generation in the scenario of the atypical dry season of the El Niño phenomenon were considered, according to the climatic behavior projected for this period, a factor that could vary and that does not depend on the Institute. .

• According to these estimates, the CVG adjustment for 2025 will be lower than that in effect in 2024, and could even have a slight reduction. These calculations show that the effect that the final consumer will perceive on the rate will be null or less than the current one.

• ICE maintains its actions to face the effects of generation due to the current weather phenomenon to effectively supply the national electricity demand.

• “The ICE Administration has implemented a strategy focused on rate stabilization that promotes the development of the country and contributes to the quality of life of Costa Rican society,” said Marco Acuña, president of Grupo ICE.
