Bnamericas
Panama's state water utility Idaan has awarded a contract to Ininco to construct a drinking water plant serving capital Las Tablas in Los Santos province for just under US$8mn, an Idaan source told BNamericas. Works on the plant are to be launched in a few weeks, the source added, now that the red tape has been completed. The plant is scheduled for a February 2004 completion. Water will be pumped from the La Villa river to provide drinking water to the cities of Las Tablas, La Villa de Los Santos and Guarare and will have a 6Mg/d capacity. The plant will serve some 67,000 local residents for at least 25 years.
