IDB calls for expressions of interest for transport consultancy

Bnamericas
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is inviting consulting firms to submit expressions of interest to carry out a study and make recommendations for the development of a transport sector investment strategy in Guyana, the bank said in a statement. The purpose of the initiative is to gain a better understanding of the transport sector in order to better aid the country in modernizing it as part of the national development objectives. The consultancy will include a general diagnostic of the transport sector, including all major mode of transport; an overview of the existing transport sector studies; the elaboration of a plan for future investment; maintenance and operational needs; and the development of a road maintenance regime. The activities to be carried out by the consultancy are expected to take approximately 15 months and will take place mostly in Guyana. The firm to be assigned the task must have at least 12 years of experience in urban and sector transport planning, institutional analysis, demand and level of service analysis and private sector participation in transportation, as well as experience in countries with similar characteristics to Guyana's. Expressions of interest must be delivered by May 31. Consulting firms must provide information to prove they are qualified to perform the task, including general data, information on the organization of the firm and its main areas of activity, and experience in similar projects, particularly in the Caribbean. IDB is a public international organization comprised of the governments of 47 countries. It periodically carries out studies of the transport sector of its member countries to provide assistance in their development.
