IDB seeks advisors for US$3.8bn Santiago-Valparaíso rail concession

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) called for consultancies to present expressions of interest to support the efforts of Chile’s concessions office DGC in the assessment of a US$3.82bn rail concession mooted to connect capital Santiago and the port city of Valparaíso.

The contract entails providing advisory services to DGC regarding the project’s formulation and socioeconomic evaluation, documents show.

Expressions of interest will be received until February 10. The relevant documents can be seen here, in Spanish.

DGC plans to tender the concession for the rail line this year, although the contract for the project’s integral studies, needed to draft the project’s bidding rules, has yet to be awarded.

The works would be divided into two stages. The first (US$1.32bn) covering the initial 172km line, and the second (US$2.5bn) adding a new line between the municipalities of Tiltil and Limache, and another between El Salto and Valparaíso.
