
IDB will provide Ecuador with technical assistance in renewable energy

The implementation of the campaign on energy efficiency, the integration of working groups for the redesign of new transparent bidding processes in renewable energy and the analysis of energy investment projects were the topics discussed between the Minister of Energy and Mines, Andrea Arrobo and Rigoberto Ariel Yépez, manager of the Infrastructure and Energy sector of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
After the meeting that took place this Tuesday, December 5, 2023, it was agreed to integrate working groups with delegates from both institutions to seek solutions to the current energy crisis that the country is experiencing.
“We have put the house in order and the IDB's support will be very important in planning issues to make new tenders regarding renewable energy transparent,” highlighted the Minister.
Likewise, he indicated that thanks to the support of the IDB, a national campaign will be implemented to promote a culture of saving electricity among citizens on a national scale.
For its part, the IDB committed to providing greater technical assistance to the development plans presented by this State Portfolio, considering the principles of transparency and sustainability . In addition, it will prioritize its cooperation to solve electrical rationing.
