The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) launched the National Infrastructure Information System (SNII), which will house the national geo-referenced database of the infrastructure used for the provision of telecommunications and broadcasting services of the country.

In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law, it is up to the IFT to create this database, which is why it developed and implemented a robust, secure and efficient computer system to keep infrastructure records updated, with the processes being one hundred percent electronic as it is fully integrated into the Institute's Electronic Window; In this way, all interactions with the SNII are carried out remotely and fully automated.

To implement this system, the IFT issued the legal framework that establishes the necessary requirements to implement it, in addition to establishing the detailed information that obligated subjects must report, and the procedures they must follow to record the information.

The obligated subjects are the concessionaires and authorized in telecommunications and broadcasting, in addition to the agencies and entities of the Federal Public Administration, Mexico City, state and municipal, the autonomous bodies and, in general, all public organizations and institutions. that have assets or sites that are used or susceptible to use for the provision of telecommunications and broadcasting services.

The SNII received its first successful load of information from the concessionaire XEHB SA DE CV on June 12. The system is ready to receive information from all other obligated subjects.

The deadline to capture the information that obligated subjects must report will be from July to November of this year, in accordance with the calendar published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on February 28 of this year.

To publicize the tool and its scope, between May and June of this year the IFT gave various information and training workshops in person to more than 120 people, and virtually to nearly 900 people, dealer representatives, of authorized persons, associations or organizations in the field of telecommunications and broadcasting. This effort will continue to guide all obligated subjects that require it in the use of said system.

The primary objective of the SNII is to become a valuable information tool for concessionaires, authorized persons and those who want to participate in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, for topics such as infrastructure sharing, investment or network growth projections and, In general, for making decisions that promote greater deployment of networks, more offering of services with better quality and better prices, for the benefit of Mexican society.

The user manuals, data dictionary, tutorial videos and informative workshops and other information from the SNII can be consulted at: https://www.ift.org.mx/recursos-de-informacion/registro-publico-de-telecomunicaciones
