This is a machine translation of a press release by IHS Brasil
São Paulo, September 4, 2024: IHS Towers, part of the IHS Holding Limited group (NYSE: IHS), one of the largest independent owners, operators and developers of shared communications infrastructure in the world by number of towers, inaugurates today its Technology Innovation Center in Santo André, metropolitan region of São Paulo, in partnership with the Santo André Foundation University Center.
Through the Technological Innovation Center, IHS Brazil and the Santo André Foundation will work together to explore innovative solutions, such as the potential adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence, with the long-term goal of helping to make cities “smarter.”
The city of Santo André was chosen for its proximity to major centers and for allowing product testing and future technology implementations to be piloted on a smaller scale. This partnership also helps IHS Brazil strengthen ties with the academic community, with the long-term goal of becoming a talent incubator, fostering startups and investing in innovation aligned with the company’s mission of enabling connectivity. It builds on existing partnerships with the academic community, such as its current participation in a research program to develop products for the telecommunications industry with the University of Ouro Preto.
Antonio Maya, CTO of IHS Latam , comments: “This partnership is important for our Innovation area, through which we aim to help train telecommunications engineers and equivalents, and to connect academia with our sector. We look forward to working with the academic community on this project and, together, contributing to innovation in our sector.”
The official inauguration will take place today at the Santo André Foundation and will be attended by Antonio Maya, CTO, IHS Latam; André Ituassu, COO, I-Systems; Rodrigo Cutri, president of the Santo André Foundation; Mario Garcia, Academic Coordinator of the Engineering and Architecture Areas at FSA; Evandro Banzato, Secretary of Development and Job Creation; Marcos Godinho, General Director of the Santo André Technology Park; and Marcelo Scacabarozi, Regional Manager of ANATEL, São Paulo.
