  • The property located in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood was donated by a private individual to facilitate the construction of the Regional General Hospital.

In view of the construction of a 260-bed Regional General Hospital (HGR) in the municipality of Nicolás Romero, State of Mexico, the H. Technical Council of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) approved the donation of a 50 thousand meter property, located in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood.

The IMSS Administration Director, Borsalino González Andrade, explained that the construction of a regular hospital is planned, which would benefit 1,978,000 beneficiaries in the area, who are currently treated in five Second Level medical units located in Toluca and the metropolitan area of Mexico City.

He stressed that having a HGR in the municipality of Nicolás Romero would allow for an improvement in the indicator of the number of beds per thousand beneficiaries, while bringing more and better specialized services to the beneficiaries who are served by the Institute in the area.

He explained that an estimated investment of 3,963 million pesos (mdp) is considered for the construction of the hospital, of which 3,094 mdp would be allocated to construction and 868 mdp for equipment.

González Andrade indicated that the land was donated by a natural person, with the aim of having a hospital that benefits the population in the western area of the State of Mexico.

In this regard, the general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, pointed out that the current administration developed an Infrastructure Master Plan, since previously during the planning to build a hospital, the donation of land in undeveloped areas was accepted, which were not ready or where a real estate development was promised with the promise that the IMSS hospital would give greater added value to the area.

He said that the logic of infrastructure plans now starts from elements such as the historical indicator of the number of beds per thousand beneficiaries, the growth of formal employment by entity and the age or useful life of hospitals.

"The IMSS goes where there is a lot of insured people and where we know there are efforts to make it grow, in areas such as Uruapan, Michoacán, and in the areas of the refineries in Tabasco," he said.
