IN BRIEF: Guyana road project advances

Guyana's ministry of public infrastructure said a feasibility study for a new road would be ready "soon."

Once it is completed, work will begin, Geoffrey Vaughn, coordinator of the ministry's works services group, said in article on the government information agency's website.

The project, dubbed the Del Conte road, is to be built in Guyana's Region 3 (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara).

It will start from the port township Parika and run alongside the Essequibo river and ultimately reach Goshen, a small community located upstream Essequibo.

A bridge to link Goshen and the town of Bartica is also under consideration.

The project is intended to improve road infrastructure for the benefit of local farmers and miners.
