IN BRIEF: Hydro-plants to lower costs for Honduras water utility

Honduras has brought online two small hydroelectric plants in capital Tegucigalpa, where output will serve water and sewerage utility Sanaa.

The plants at dams El Picacho and La Concepción, built at a cost of 187mn lempiras (US$8.4mn), will generate 430kWh, thus lowering the operating costs of Sanaa's potable water system, which will benefit approximately 800,000 area residents, the utility said.

Japan's Hazama Ando Corporation carried out constructions works while Japan International Cooperation Agency provided financing.
