In Brief: Nicaragua sets up committee for digital TV migration

Bnamericas

Nicaragua has put together an 11-member technical committee to draw up a migration plan to digital TV, according to local daily La Prensa.

Citing a publication in the official gazette, the committee is made up of representatives from telecoms regulator Telcor and TV channel Canal 6.

Nicaragua decided in August 2015 to adopt the Japanese-Brazilian digital TV system (ISDB-T), making it the 13th Latin American nation at the time to opt for that technology.

The Central American country has given itself a two year deadline to switch off analog TV, according to La Prensa.
