IN BRIEF: Odebrecht suspends metro line work in Venezuela

Latin America's largest engineering group Odebrecht has suspended work in Venezuela due to overdue federal government payments.

Odebrecht is in charge of building line No. 2 of the Los Teques metro in Miranda state. Civil works will not restart until the government pays its overdue bills to the Brazilian company, news service O Antagonista reported.

Line 2 will have seven stations and run 13km between the cities of Los Teques and Caracas. An Odebrecht-led consortium is building the line, and a consortium led by French transport and energy company Alstom is providing the trains and signaling equipment.
