In the first half of 2024, with the entry of 40 new projects, the security of the National Interconnected System is strengthened

XM has among its responsibilities the operational planning of the National Interconnected System, SIN, and to this end, one of the activities it carries out is the verification of the technical requirements defined in the current regulation for the entry of generation and transmission expansion projects.
During the first half of 2024, 32 generation and 8 transmission projects were declared in commercial operation, which were introduced to strengthen the flexibility, security and reliability of the National Interconnected System. With the entry of these new generation projects, the SIN has exceeded the first gigawatt of capacity from renewable sources; however, the path towards diversification and energy transformation of our electrical energy generation matrix continues.
With the entry into operation of the generation projects, we have an effective net installed capacity of 20,767 MW in our generation matrix as of June 2024 and 514 MW of solar energy, 32 MW of wind energy and 12, 5 MW of hydraulic energy," says Juan Carlos Morales Ruíz, National Dispatch Center Manager.
