São Paulo, October 2022 - Inatel - a center for teaching, research and development of technologies in the south of Minas Gerais - and the Yang Ming Chiao Tung National University (NYCU) - a reference in studies in the area of Mobile Communications in Taiwan - signed a international cooperation agreement for the development of 6G research. The memorandum signing ceremony was held online last Friday, October 21.

The cooperation provides for the research and development of technologies in 6G and also in related areas, open and unbundled networks, radio and cognitive networks, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. The partnership also includes studies on the impact of state-of-the-art communication technologies on social development.

For NYCU President Lin Qihong, the cooperation will demonstrate Taiwan's strength in 6G Mobile Communications, thus boosting the influence of international industry and academia. According to him, after signing the memorandum, the university will deepen transnational cooperation with the main research institutions in Brazil.

For the director of Inatel, professor Carlos Nazareth Motta Marins, the signing of the cooperation agreement is a great milestone and a great opportunity for advancement for both institutions and for companies in Brazil and Taiwan. “The two institutions are synergistic and complementary, with very well-established competences in the areas of Medical Sciences, Electronics, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies. The research that begins with the development of 6G technology will give us the possibility to advance in the future on different fronts of knowledge that will be increasingly impacted by the fusion of the physical, biological and digital worlds. It will be a great opportunity for the development of the entire team of Inatel employees, students and professors”, he declared.

The partnership began after the institution approached the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brasília, for which Inatel's Research, Development and Innovation manager, Henry Rodrigues, presented all the initiatives, projects and research developed by the institution.
