Intervial Chile presents lowest bid for Panama’s 1st road PPP
Panama’s public works ministry (MOP) opened bids for the country’s first road PPP contract, with Intervial Chile submitting the lowest offer.
The contract is for the rehabilitation and maintenance of 246km of the Pan-American East highway between Panamá Este and Darién province on the border with Colombia.
The reference price was US$283mn, Intervial offered US$263mn, Austria’s Strabag US$280mn, the Corredor del Istmo consortium – comprising Prodemex Infraestructura, Latinoamericana de Infraestructura and Prodemex Construcciones – US$345mn and China Harbour Engineering US$356mn.
The technical bids were opened on July 19. Only four of the 14 bidders that prequalified in January made offers. The contract winner will be announced in the next few weeks.
