ISA wins contract for Colombia grid expansion works
Interconexión Eléctrica (ISA) has secured a contract to build and operate power transmission infrastructure in northern Colombia.
In a statement, the Medellín-based company said it was selected following a competitive bidding process in which it proposed annual revenue of US$2.6mn.
The project consists of a 500kV substation and an associated 20km power line in the municipality of Magangué, Bolívar department. Work is due to be completed in December 2028.
“In addition to being fundamental to guaranteeing the security and reliability of the electrical system, the project will be crucial to meeting the industrial demand of the Caribbean Coast," ISA chief executive Jorge Carrillo said.
The project forms part of a package of urgent transmission works announced by energy ministry planning unit UPME in July.
Other transmission projects awarded to ISA this year include the construction of the Pasacaballos substation and the installation of transformers at the Primavera and Sogamoso substations.
