ISA's Internexa expands network in Peru eyeing mining, energy and carriers

ISA's connectivity arm Internexa expanded its network capacity in Peru as it aims to enhance its capabilities to serve energy and mining firms, as well as internet service providers and telecom operators.

The company said in a social media publication that it opened two new network nodes in the country – in Chao and Juanjui.

Both towns are in northern Peru. Chao is in La Libertad region and Juanjui is the capital of Mariscal Cáceres province in San Martín region.

The new network nodes have capacity of 10GB each for ethernet and IP services. With the activations, Internexa says it will be able to offer greater speed and better stability to customers.

In the past two years, the fiber optics wholesale operator has sold its operations in Argentina, Brazil and Chile – to Silica Networks, Mega and Ufinet, respectively – to concentrate on Colombia and Peru.

In Colombia, Internexa announced a US$100mn five-year investment and recently opened new network nodes in El Socorro, Santander department and Marinilla, Antioquia department.

The Colombian footprint encompasses presence in more than 70 cities.
