ITAIPU Council received a report on the first works of the Technological Update Plan
This Itaipu release was published using machine translation.
On the occasion of the 319th Ordinary Meeting of the Binational ITAIPU Board of Directors, held this Tuesday, November 8, in the Production Building of the Hydroelectric Power Plant, several points were addressed and a joint report was received from the general directors on issues of interest of the Entity that were subject to approval or recommendation by the members and members of the Board of Directors.
Aspects related to the Technological Update Plan (PAT) of the ITAIPU Hydroelectric Power Plant, whose executive planning is currently underway, were analyzed in order to determine the guidelines for project management through the definition of rules, plans, documents, processes and controls, and establish governance so that its implementation is carried out effectively, allowing constant monitoring and control by those involved.
Likewise, the plenary received a report from the Technical Directorate regarding the generation of energy that reached a high level of productivity, despite the adverse hydrological conditions. In this sense, they highlighted that, from January to October of this year, the ITAIPU Hydroelectric Power Plant supplied the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) with 13,669 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electrical energy, which represents the highest value supplied by the Entity to the state-owned electricity company in the aforementioned period, compared to previous years.
At another point, the Board of Directors was informed about the progress of the international agreement between ITAIPU and the Smithsonian Institute of the United States for the creation of an Environmental Center of reference in the region and the accreditation by the Latin American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums (ALPZA). This certification corresponds to the highest standards of conservation and sustainable development for the Environmental Center of the Right Bank and the conservation of the Alto Paraná Atlantic Forest (BAAPA). The agreement covers training, research, education programs, animal management with high conservation criteria and sustainable management of the area of influence.
