The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Franklin Molina, inspected the Ivirizu Hydroelectric Project, located in the province of Carrasco, Cochabamba, and confirmed a notable progress of more than 86%. With a projected installed power of 290.20 MW and an average annual production of 1,160.89 GWh, this investment promises great benefits for Bolivia.
The Ivirizu Hydroelectric Project is part of the energy sector planning that promotes the integration of renewable generation. It will allow us to meet the goal of changing our energy matrix, ensuring a safe, reliable and low-cost supply for the demand of the domestic market. In addition, it makes rational and efficient use of natural energy resources.
The project area is located within the limits of the Carrasco National Park, and the transmission line extends from the Carrasco National Park to the municipality of Mizque. Technically, it has an installed power of 290.20 megawatts (MW) and an average annual production of 1,160.89 gigawatt hours (GWh). In addition, the report from the state ENDE indicates that, until May 6, 2024, a financial progress of 76.86% was achieved.
The project is located between the Ivirizu and Cristal Mayu river basins, and includes the construction of the Sehuencas hydroelectric plants, with an installed capacity of 198.66 MW, and Juntas, with a capacity of 91.55 MW, which together They will contribute the equivalent of 10% of the total electricity generation of the National Interconnected System (SIN).
Very soon, the country will benefit from this powerful source of renewable energy, representing a big step towards a greener and more prosperous future. The successful implementation of the Ivirizu Hydroelectric Project not only means significant progress in terms of environmental sustainability, but also a boost for economic and social development.
