Jamaica tenders breakwater construction

Bnamericas

Jamaica's national works agency has published a tender for the supply and transportation of boulders for the construction of breakwaters in Negril, Westmoreland, according to a tender notice.

The winning bidder will be required to transport boulders over sea and place them to construct submerged breakwaters approximately 1.6 km west offshore of Negril.

The government has received a US$9.95mn grant from the Adaptation Fund, the organization set up to finance concrete adaptation projects and programs in developing countries that are parties to the Kyoto Protocol and are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

The project aims to increase resilience of the agricultural sector and coastal areas in order to protect livelihoods and improve food security.

Interested parties must submit applications for pre-qualification by December 12 and further details are available on the UN Development Business website here.
