Santa Cruz, Jul 14, 2022 (AN-YPFB).- Rice producing partners affiliated with the San Juan de Yapacaní RL Integral Agricultural Cooperative (Caisy RL) acquired 1,875 metric tons of urea produced by Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) at its plant. of ammonia and urea.

Around 40 members of the cooperative made the purchase of fertilizer for rice production in the months of April, May and June. The granulated urea will be used in about 7,500 hectares, mainly in rice production.

“In our research department we carry out different comparison tests of YPFB urea with the imported fertilizer; We have concluded that the quality of the national urea is good and that there is no difference with the imported product. Therefore, we recommend growers to purchase this fertilizer. This year we bought more than 1,800 tons, which in amount is equivalent to US$1,162,500”, detailed Yuuki Yonekura Nishi, president of Caisy RL.

YPFB technicians verified that the product benefits the agricultural sector. They made visits to the urea warehouses of the associated producers, inspected plots with fertilizer applications in the field and visited the cooperative's research plots.

“YPFB supports primary agricultural producers through the direct provision of fertilizer without intermediaries, from the Ammonia and Urea Plant. We are close to the final consumer in this thriving agricultural area”, pondered Adrián Ochoa Vargas, director of Marketing of Derived and Industrialized Products of the state oil company.

Rice producers in the area consider that the urea used in irrigation technology in rice crops is essential, since it acts as a nutrient and contributes to obtaining a high yield in the production of grasses such as rice, corn and sorghum.

“We are with the seedlings ready to plant the first 250 hectares of irrigated rice. Now we can plan our sowing, our cultivation and be sure that the input will not be lacking. We are very grateful to YPFB for the supply of urea,” said Yaur Romero, manager of a rice property in the area.

The product was transported in 75 cargo trucks, from the petrochemical complex of the state oil company to the properties of the members of the cooperative in the northern area of Santa Cruz, the same one that was contracted by the cooperative itself.

“We applied the national urea in two campaigns and we noticed that it is very competitive. In addition, the price is affordable and for us the proximity of the Ammonia and Urea Plant represents an advantage, since the cost of transportation benefits us. We apply 300 kilos of urea per hectare to have high yields,” said Shyo Ogata, rice producer manager.

Caisy RL was founded in 1957 with the purpose of developing productive tasks that contribute to the growth of the region. For more than 60 years, it has contributed to the technological development of the agricultural industry in the region. It stands out in the production of eggs and rice.
